Fayetteville Man killed in FairburnBy LINDSAY BIANCHI
A Fayetteville man was shot and killed June 22 in Fairburns Lightning district when a man got in his car and shot him as they were driving away. Fairburn Police Captain H. E. Miller said it is suspected that Christian Underwood, 25, was attempting to purchase drugs in the area late on June 22. Underwood, who lived in the Four Seasons community in Fayetteville, may have triggered the crime by flashing a large sum of money in view of the assailant, officials said a warrant for the arrest of the individual involved has been issued and an All Points Bulletin was also issued to try and catch the offender. Miller said the department has a suspect in the case, but is not releasing details. City Administrator Jim Williams said that the incident has caused an awakening in the Fairburn Police Department who have begun cracking down on crime in the area. Plans to install a camera system in the Lightning District have been recently discussed at Fairburns City Council meetings, but no concrete decisions have been set.
