Police charge man with felony for hitting childBy JOHN MUNFORD
A Fayetteville man was arrested Tuesday night after police say he struck a 13-year-old and his brother-in-law. James McGlory, 38, of 180 Oak St. was charged with one felony count of cruelty to children, a misdemeanor count of simple battery and two misdemeanor counts of cruelty to children in the second degree, police said. The two latter charges were due to the assaults being witnessed by two children, police said. According to warrants filed for his arrest by the Fayetteville Police Department, McGlory was intoxicated when he struck the 13-year-old boy in the left side of the forehead. He also punched his brother-in-law, Vernon Scott Dailey, in the face and verbally assaulted him.
