County, city agree on Bellemeade developmentBy JOHN THOMPSON Bellemeade subdivision is set to become a reality after the Fayette County Commission dropped its objections to the development Thursday night. The proposed 108-acre subdivision is near the intersection of Redwine, Old Senoia and Hawn roads. Fayetteville had requested to annex the land into the city under its Planned Unit Development zoning category, but the county objected because they maintained a higher density development would be allowed. But in a letter to the city May 19, Commission Chairman Greg Dunn said the county would drop its objection to the annexation if the city limited the development to 88 one acre lots and two five acre lots. After mulling over the countys offer, the city agreed to the number of lots. The County Commission voted unanimously to drop its objection to the annexation as Fayetteville Mayor Ken Steele watched from the back of the commission chambers. We appreciate you working with us on this, said Dunn to Steele after the vote.
