The Georgia Games is a statewide, Olympic-style sports festival
for all residents of Georgia. The Games emphasize personal development
through physical fitness, health and sport. The 2004 Georgia Games
Championships will consist of 39 sports providing Georgias
amateur athletes, of all ages and skill levels, a meaningful opportunity
to participate in a true amateur sport competition.
The Georgia Games have been promoting grassroots amateur sports
and an improved quality of life through Olympic style events for
14 years. With the Athens Olympics occurring at the same time,
the Georgia State Games Commission encourages all to Keep
the Olympic Dream Alive by participating in the Georgia Games
Championships. This year the Games include contributions from 1300
volunteers at 52 sporting venues across Georgia.
All residents of Georgia who have lived in the state for at least
30 days prior to the date of competition for their sport are eligible
to participate if they meet the requirements specified by that
sport. Georgia residents attending school or serving in the military
in other states are also eligible. Residents of South Carolina
and Tennessee are also welcome to participate.
To enter the Georgia Games Championships, an official entry form
must be completed. These entry forms, including waivers and sport-specific
information, can be found on the Georgia Games website at www.georgiagames.org
by selecting the Sport Information tab, followed by
