Citizens University approved for countyFulton County residents can now learn in detail about the inner workings of County government. As a result of a resolution sponsored by District 7 Commissioner William Bill Edwards and unanimously approved June 16 by the Board of Commissioners, the Fulton County Citizens University, an interactive program of study about county government, will be available to residents countywide.
During the two-and-one-half-hour classes, which are on the same night each week for 12 weeks, a different county department staff will acquaint participants with county operations through various methods such as simulated real-world activities, tours and discussions. This program takes government to the people, said Commissioner Edwards. It is a catalyst for change while working to bring citizens closer to government. The first class of 22 students graduated June 17 in an evening ceremony in Government Center Assembly Hall. There is a $40 program fee that covers the costs of a class shirt and course materials. The date for the next class will be announced soon. For more information, contact www.fultonecd.org.
