BOE announces personnel changesThe Fulton County Board of Education approved several personnel changes at its June meetings, including a new principal for Mountain Park Elementary School. Randall Brannon, a veteran Fulton educator with more than 30 years of service, was named Mountain Parks new principal. Prior to his appointment he served as assistant principal at both Abbotts Hill Elementary School and Roswell High School. He also taught chemistry and biology while at Roswell High and was dean of students. Brannon is a Harding University graduate (B.S., General Education; M.A.T., Science Education) and attended the University of Southern Mississippi, where he receive his Specialists degree in Educational Leadership. He replaces outgoing principal Aaron Moore. Dr. Vickie Scott, a Bibb County School System administrator, also was approved as Fultons new Deputy Superintendent for Academics. While in Bibb County, she held positions of assistant superintendent, principal, and associate principal, and was on the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Quality Assurance Review Team committee that evaluated the Fulton County School System and made a recommendation to SACS for districtwide accreditation. In addition to numerous local, state, and national accolades, Dr. Scott holds several advanced degrees, including a Doctorate of Education (Nova Southeastern University), Education Specialist degree (University of Georgia), two Masters degrees (University of Georgia, Mercer University), and undergraduate work in psychology and secondary education (Mercer University). Banneker High School Principal Dewitt Walker and River Trail Middle School Principal Vicki Denmark also were announced as new area superintendents at the June meeting. Their new responsibilities include day-to-day oversight and management of all schools within their assigned clusters. Before the appointment, Mr. Walker was principal at Banneker for five years. Dr. Denmark had been River Trails principal since its opening in 2001.
