PTC smoking ban workshop July 12

The next workshop on a proposed indoor smoking ban in Peachtree City will be Monday, July 12, at 6 p.m. in the downstairs meeting room of the library.

Opponents and supporters of the concept sounded off at a workshop last week that included participation from Mayor Steve Brown and Councilwoman Judi-ann Rutherford. Both indicated the proposed ordinance is not a “done deal” but the goal of the workshop was to find out what changes needed to be made to the proposed ordinance.

Local bar owners complained that banning smoking at their establishments would cause patrons to go elsewhere, hurting their business. Brown and Rutherford seemed open to factoring in some type of exemption for bars in the ordinance.
