PTC may halt builder after settling problems uncorrected in one homeBy JOHN MUNFORD Peachtree City officials may soon take action against a company that apparently built a million-dollar plus home on top of a debris pit, according to Mayor Steve Brown. Brown said the home at 115 Peninsula Drive, owned by Tom and Lynn Fedor, has had excessive settling problems since it was built over a year ago by Regency Homes. The Fedors have tried to work with Regency Homes to get repairs made to no avail, Brown said. Tom Carty, the citys top building official, met with Regency Homes officials Wednesday about the problems and the company has 10 days to respond to the complaints to try and convince the city the problems arent related to settling, Brown said. The Fedors had engineering reports made on the house which determined the lots soil was not compacted and there was organic matter and buried trees underneath the structure, Brown said. The city could suspend all of Regency Homes building permits in the city and take legal action for building code violations if necessary, Brown said. Brown noted the Fedors contract to purchase the property required Regency Homes to obtain a structural warranty, but they later found out such a warranty was never purchased by Regency Homes.
