Firm selected to move PTC libraryLocation of temporary quarters not disclosed yet By JOHN MUNFORD When construction time rolls around for its $4.9 million expansion, the Peachtree City Library will move out of its current building into temporary quarters. Officials hope vacating the building will cut four months off the construction schedule, which otherwise would have been done in phases. American Interfile and LIbrary Services, Inc., a firm that specializes in moving library materials, has been selected by the city council to handle the move at a cost of $56,838. The city will lease space for the librarys temporary location, and a deal is in the works for a location in Peachtree City, said Randy Gaddo, the citys director of leisure services. Attorneys are still fine-tuning the lease and so the location will remain a secret for now, until everything is finalized and the landlord can notify his employees and patrons, Gaddo added. Its going to be within easy moving distance, Gaddo said. The city is also expected to save an estimated $39,000 by moving out to avoid phasing the project. The library will likely be in its temporary quarters for about a year, officials estimate. Last year, Peachtree City voters approved a referendum to expand the library from its current size of 20,000 sq. ft. to 31,000 sq. ft. The main attraction will be a 5,000 sq. ft. childrens area with space for story time, baby time, puppet shows, summer reading programs and other childrens activities. The addition will add room for more books, computers, audiovisual materials and reading areas also. Among the fixes on the project list include a repair of the roof, upgrading the lighting and heating and air conditioning systems and improving electrical capacity.
