In the third week of racing at Atlanta Motor Speedways Thursday
Thunder Racing series, Fayettevilles Trey Maughan finished in second
place in the Outlaw division for the second week in a row, behind Vince
Ponder of Brooks. Ponder had finished in fourth place the week before
and in fifth place in the opening week. The Outlaws division is shaping
up to be real competitive between raacers from the southside, including
Maughan, Ponder and Senoias Tina Johnson.
Other local racers with good finishes last week were Fayettevilles
Chris Siebert, who placed eighth in the Bandits division, Peachtree Citys
Ed Clark, who placed 11th in the Masters division, Senoias Tina Johnson,
who placed fourth in Outlaw, and Senoias Phillip Bell, who placed
10th in Chargers.
Atlanta Motor Speedways Thursday Thunder will return this week for
Gresham & Associates Night at the races. Tickets for Thursday Thunder
are just $5 for adults, $1 for children 6-11, and children under 5 are
free. Parking is free. Spectator gates open at 6 p.m. with preliminary
action beginning immediately. Feature racing begins at 7 p.m. and concludes
by 10:30 p.m. It was also announced last week that American Idol contestant
William Hung will perform at the July 15 Thursday Thunder. For more information
