ObituariesGloria Myra ONeill Gloria Myra ONeill, 84, Fayetteville, formerly of Hapeville, died June 12, 2004. She was born Feb. 19, 1920 in Cherokee County, Kan. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. R. ONeill. Graveside services were at Forest Hill Cemetery, Forest Park, with the Rev. Dr. Tim Woodruff officiating. Survivors include a son, Richard and Elaine ONeill, Fayetteville; and granddaughters, Tiffany and Christy. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge. Harold Eugene Hickok Harold Eugene Hickok, 70, Newnan, died June 12, 2004. He was born Sept. 5, 1933 in Madison County, Fla. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Peachtree City. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Dr. Joel Alvis officiating. Interment was at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. Survivors include his wife, Gloria Hickok, Newnan; a son, Robert and Sandra Perrin; daughters, Brenda Sims, and Dan and Dee Fennell; and grandchildren, Brandy Wood, Samantha Sims, Crystal Perrin, and Madison Grace and Eli Fennell. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge. Julia ORear Brazelton Julia ORear Brazelton, 92, Fairburn, Fayette County, died June 14, 2004. She was born Oct. 23, 1912 in Greene County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Myron F. Brazelton. Graveside services were at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta, with the Rev. Phillip Johnson officiating. Survivors include a daughter, Jane Peek, Fairburn; grandsons, Myron Peek, Maryland, Jimmy Peek, Griffin, and Teddy Peek and Bobby Peek, both of Fairburn; 15 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge. Elura Belle Sanders Walters Elura Belle Sanders Walters, 80, Fayetteville, formerly of Franklin, N. C., died June 16, 2004. She was born July 27, 1923 in Macon County, the daughter of Jesse L. and Ida Shope Sanders. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl G. Walters, and a brother, Charles Sanders. She was a retired manager for Delta Airlines with 28 years of service. She was a member of the Employer of the Year Club with Delta, and was an avid craftsperson. She was a member of Prentiss Baptist Church. Services were at the Prentiss Baptist Church, Franklin, N. C., with the Rev. Randy Drinnon officiating. Interment was at the church cemetery. Survivors include a son, Jim and Tana Walters, Fayetteville; brothers, Harris Sanders, Flat Rock, N. C., Sonny Sanders, Raleigh, N. C., Jay Sanders and Jim Sanders, both of Franklin, N. C., and Timothy Sanders, North Carolina; sisters, Willia Stiles, Michigan, Edith Conley, Franklin, N. C., Margaret Harrison, Portsmouth, Va., Betty Owens, Charlotte, N. C., Olivia Reece, Anderson, S. C., and Amelia Trull, North Carolina; a grandson, Trey Cross; and a granddaughter, Kimberly Williams. Bryant Funeral Home, Franklin, N. C., was in charge. Ruby Estelle Banks Ruby Estelle Banks, 86, Forest Park, died June 16, 2004. She was born Feb. 6, 1918 in Clayton County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie C. Banks. Services were at the Mowell Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Ken Helms officiating. Interment was at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Forest Park. Survivors include a son, Jerry C. and Pam Banks, Temple, and their two daughters, Elizabeth and Jessie; a daughter, Beverly and Mike Knowles, Fayetteville, their children and grandchild, Chris, Melissa and Emily Knowles, Sharpsburg, Jason and Natalie Knowles, Fayetteville, Alyce and Shane Head, Fayetteville, Derek Knowles and Keith Knowles, Fayetteville. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville was in charge. Thomas Ronald Marchman Thomas Ronald Marchman, 59, Riverdale, died June 17, 2004. He was born Nov. 9, 1944 in Fulton County. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel. Survivors include a son, Terry Marchman, Cumming; a daughter, Heather Persaude, Rockford, Ill.; a brother, Freddy Marchman, Riverdale; a sister, Phyllis Mason, Fayetteville; and two grandchildren. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge. Lt. Col. Douglas Martz Lt. Colonel Douglas Martz, United States Army Infantry, retired, 57, Peachtree City, died June 19, 2004. He was born Oct. 23, 1946 in Fort Wayne, Ind. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Portia Howe Sperry Martz. His father was also a career soldier. He was a graduate of the United States Marine Corps Command and General Staff College at Quantico, Va. He later served as the active duty Deputy Chief of Staff for Training with various units in the United States Army Reserve. He served his country as an Airborne Ranger in the Republic of Vietnam. He was a life-long Episcopalian, a Eucharist Minister and singer, as well as a guitar player. He was an avid reader and published author. Memorial services are today at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity at 4 p.m. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Anne Judkins Martz, Peachtree City; children, Beth and Tom Kohler, Elgin, Ill., Karen and Matt Bartholomew, Hiram, and Eric and Heather Martz, Peachtree City; a sister, Portia Miller, Palm Harbor, Fla.; and six grandchildren. |
