Shooting teams qualify for nationalsThe Fayette County 4-H Shooting Sports Program had Senior and Junior Division teams who both placed as state runnerup in their divisions at the Georgia State Trapshooting Championship at the Southriver Gun Club near Covington. Members of each team will head to Ohio to compete in the Scholastic Trashooting Program National Championship at The Grand American World Trapshooting Championships held this August. Members of the Fayette County 4-H Senior Division Team are Jake Madkiff, Kris Osterhage, Stephen Nicolai, Drake Osterhage, and J.R. Greenway. They are coached by Dennis Osterhage. Members of the Fayette County 4-H Junior Division Team are A.J. Blackburn, Nathan Whatley, John Vaughn, Nicolas Trevena, and Rob Schuler. The team is coached by Bill Madkiff. The Scholastic Clay Target Program provides school-age participants with the opportunity to showcase their cometitive shooting skills and earn state and national recognition. The program is designed to instill in participants safe firearms handling, commitment, responsibility, leadership, and teamwork.
