Pioneers run at DeKalbMembers of the SouthSide Pioneers track team competed in the 2004 DeKalb Youth Games over the weekend. First-place medalists for the team were: Michael Edmondson in the 800 (2:55.06). Baylen Garrett in the 800 (2:39.35) and 1,500 (5:33.75). Jonathan Garrett in the 800 (2:16.90) and 1,500 (5:03.35). Lacey Garrett in the 800 (2:42.34) and the 1,500 (5:56.25). Shauna Garrett in the 800 (3:45.58). David Mathis in the high jump (46). Second-place medalists included Vashti Campbell in the 100-meter hurdles (20.60) and the 200-meter hurdles (32.32), Michael Edmondson in the 400 (1:14.54), Shauna Garrett in the 400 (1:35.18), David Mathis in the 200 (26.28) and 400 (57.42), and Miyah McKnight in the 800 (4:12.49). The third-place medalist was Brandon Lee in the 200 (23.34). Other participants who did well in the meet were Trevon Caruthers in the long jump (eighth place, 108); Michael DeHaven in the 100 (11.95) and 200 (fifth place, 24.39); and Bryana Higgins in the long jump (fifth place, 86.25).
