The fine art of graffitiIts not something you see everyday in Peachtree City, so Mayor Steve Brown was more than a bit surprised recently when he and a photographer stumbled upon a rather elaborate gallery of graffiti art underneath the TDK Boulevard overpass in the citys industrial park. Brown said when the urban artform shows up now and again on Peachtree Citys cartpaths, road signs, tunnels and other places its not welcome, crews eliminate it quickly. This collection, nearly covering both sides of two main concrete supports, as well as the concerete embankments and the steel structure supporting the bridge itself, appeared relatively fresh. Empty cans of spray paint, used brushes and other acoutrements of the trade littered the side-by-side CSX tracks running through this part of town. Brown said nothing will likely happen to this effort for the time being, since its not really accessible to the general public just the crews of more than 20 trains that pass through the city each day. He also reminded budding graffiti artists that the citys Department of Leisure Services offers a program in extreme art that was established to try and avoid the underground variety. |
