Two cited after blind man crashes golf cart into parked car in PTCBy JOHN MUNFORD
A golf cart driven by a blind man, thanks to verbal directions from a drunk passenger, ran into a parked car at the El Ranchero restaurant in Peachtree City Saturday, police said. Somehow, the duo made it to the restaurant from the Clover Green area, a good two miles away, police said. The blind driver, Samuel McClain, 35, of Stockbridge, and the passenger Michael Johnston, 47, of Peachtree City, were both arrested for reckless conduct, police said. There were no injuries reported from the crash. McClains seeing-eye dog was also on board the golf cart at the time of the incident, police said. Witnesses told officers that Johnston was giving McClain directions as the golf cart crashed into the parked vehicle, police said. McClain also admitted to driving the cart, and Johnston admitted he was under the influence after drinking six or seven beers, which is why he wasnt driving the golf cart, police said. McClain does not have a drivers license but one isnt necessary for adults to drive in Peachtree City, police noted. McClain and Johnston were charged with reckless conduct due to the blatant disregard for public safety, police said. |
