Special banner to honor locals serving in armed forces

Fayette County residents are being encouraged to honor their loved ones serving in the military on a special large banner that will be displayed at Swanbrook Manor Apartments in Fayetteville.

Residents are asked to attach photos of servicemen and servicewomen or simply write their name on the banner by stopping by the apartment’s office at 755 E. Lanier Avenue.

Officials at Swanbrook Apartments want the banner to serve as a visual to impact others to remember all people “who are giving of themselves for our freedom and our country.” They are also hoping to encourage patriotism and civic pride.

In addition to displaying the banner, a copy of all the names and photos will be sent to four local churches and 12 national and international Christian ministries for prayer on Sept. 1.
