News BriefsRape, assault charges filed on husband A north Fayette man has been arrested for raping his wife at knifepoint last week, police said. Adel Kazouh, 39, is charged with rape and aggravated assault for threatening his wife with a large, butcher-style knife with the intent to rape the victim in the early morning hours of June 7, according to warrants filed by the Fayette County Sheriffs Department. Kazouh also struggled with deputies as they attempted to transport him from Fayette Community Hospital to a mental hospital in Columbus, police said. He tried unsuccessfully to take a deputys gun from its holster, according to court documents. Kazouh also faces felony charges of obstruction of a police officer, taking a law enforcement officers weapon, simple battery on a law enforcement officer and interference with government property. He was also charged with possession of marijuana (less than one ounce) after some was found inside the couples home. John Munford 3 arrested for trafficking meth with child in tow Three Norcross residents were arrested Wednesday, June 9 for trafficking in methamphetamine at a convenience store in north Fayette County with their child present, according to warrants filed by sheriffs deputies. The suspects were arrested by drug agents from the Fayette County Sheriffs Department after it was discovered they had approximately 4 ounces of the contraband. In addition to the felony charge of trafficking methamphetamine, the three suspects were also charged with reckless conduct for involving the child. Arrested were Jacquelon Lee, 19, of 3482 Chelsea Park, Norcross; Rosa Suarez, 18, of 1850 Graves Rd., Apt. 10310, Norcross; and Raul Mendez, 21, of 1850 Graves Rd., Apt. 10310, Norcross. Mendez is also charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime since deputies found him with a .25-cal. pistol during the arrest. Chief Magistrate Charles R. Floyd originally denied bond for all three suspects, but Magistrate James A. White later granted Suarez a $51,000 bond. John Munford Fayetteville stabbing reported A Fayetteville man has been arrested for stabbing his nephew several times during an altercation at his residence early Sunday morning, police said. Ferrell P. Forts, 47, of 120 Hill St. Fayetteville, stabbed the victim, Michael Combs, in his thigh and left side with a four-inch knife, according to warrants for Forts arrest. Combs was treated for his injuries and later discharged from the hospital, police said. John Munford |
