PTC Target plan back up for consideration ThursdayBy JOHN MUNFORD The controversial site plan for the expansion of the Kedron Village retail center, which includes a Target store, will be back up for consideration by the Peachtree City City Council at its regular meeting Thursday night. Homeowners from the St. Simons Cove subdivision are opposing the plan, saying an access road located directly across from the subdivision entrance will cause traffic problems. An attorney for the subdivision has submitted a list of needs asking for traffic calming devices, landscaping in the median and other concessions. Council was to consider approving the site plan at its last meeting, but several council members balked since a new version of the plan was submitted to the city the day of the meeting. George Rosenzweig, an attorney for developer Faison Enterprises, argued the changes were minor in scope and thus the plan should be approved. The plan has been in controversy for a while, sparking a lawsuit between Faison and the city council that eventually included the Lake Kedron Community Association, which had also opposed the original plan. Before the case went to trial, a consent order between the parties was reached. That consent order requires Faison to dismiss its lawsuit once the new site plan is approved. The document also limits the total square footage of developed enclosed space on the conceptual site plan to 215,000 sq. ft. for retail, another 14,800 sq. ft. for office space and an outparcel building of 50,000 sq. ft. |
