Realtors get update on Ga. Hwy 34

Realtors get road update

Local Realtors and others from businesses which support the residential real estate industry are now more familiar with plans for widening and reconstruction of Ga. Highway 34 in Coweta County after attending a recent monthly meeting of the Georgia Women’s Council of Realtors (WCR) Fayette chapter.

Kenneth Crabtree, area engineer for the Georgia Department of Transportation, outlined plans and progress of the Coweta County segment of the main thoroughfare between Peachtree City and Newnan. The estimated $7.6 million construction project will improve heavily traveled Hwy. 34 between McDonald’s near Thomas Crossroads and Fischer Road on the Coweta-Fayette line by widening it from two lanes to four lanes. Estimated date of completion is December 31, 2005, according to Crabtree.

“The project will be constructed in three stages as traffic flow is shifted to construct east and west bound lanes to minimize disturbance to the traveling public,” Crabtree said. “Two bridges over Shoal Creek and seven median crossovers are included.”

Women’s Council of Realtors is an organization of real estate professionals which strives to create business opportunities, develop skills for the future, and encourage members’ potential for success. Program topics serve as a resource for personal and professional growth, and provide information about local activities of interest to the real estate community.

The Fayette WCR chapter - which serves Fayette and surrounding counties - hosts a breakfast meeting at 8:30 a.m. on the third Thursday of each month except June and July. Local Realtors, and professionals in affiliated fields such as appraisal or mortgage, are invited to attend. For more information call Stephen Walker, president of the Fayette WCR chapter, at 770-487-8300.
