Fayette Presbyterian mission team heads for Nicaragua

Members of the adult mission team at Fayette Presbyterian Church will head for Nicaragua June 19, following a successful mission trip to that country by the youth mission team last summer. Members will conduct medical clinics, sewing workshops, and Bible school activities during the week long trip.

The team will do most of its mission work in the city of Leon which is still recovering from the effects of Hurricane Mitch. Several church fund raisers have enabled the team to give more than $10,000 to the host mission, El Ayudante, for the benefit of the people of Leon.

“Nicaragua is the second poorest country in Central America with an average family income of $480 (U.S. dollars),” a spokesperson said. “Nearly half of the population lives on less than $1 a day.”

The team will return to Fayetteville June 26.
