A Starr’s Mill High School student has been arrested for distributing prescription medicine to three other students on campus, police said.

Brittany Marie Welch, 17, of 501 Atwood Circle, Peachtree City, was charged with three felony counts of distributing a schedule III drug and one felony count of possession of a schedule III drug, said Sgt. Belinda McCastle of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department.

The transactions happened Wednesday, April 28 in a school restroom and in the cafeteria and involved between 10 and 12 pills, McCastle said. The warrants weren’t taken until Wednesday, May 5 because of the length of the investigation, she added.

Welch got the medicine from her home, McCastle said. Lortab is regarded as a painkiller typically prescribed by dentists, she added.

Welch was released on a $9,000 bond.
