The Peachtree City Police Department arrested a Coweta County school official Thursday afternoon on two felony sex charges.

Barrett D. Peavy, 36, of 48 Briargrove, Newnan, was wanted for enticing a child for indecent purposes. A second felony charge and warrant were also issued under The Computer Pornography and Child Exploitation Prevention Act of 1999.

Peachtree City Police Chief Jim Murray said an undercover Peachtree City Poilice officer has conversed with him for more than a month on the computer. Murray said the conversation became more graphic. Peavy is employed by the Coweta County School System as the school system’s web designer.

The Fayette County District Attorney’s office was also actively involved in the investigation with the case, said Murray.

Murray said that the undercover officer who interacted with Peavy received special training offered through the District Attorney’s Office. District Attorney Bill McBroom said no taxpayer funds were used for the training.

Coweta County School System Public Information Officer Dean Jackson said the school system does not comment on matters involving personnel.
