Free golf lessons offered this month

In May, amateur golfers and those interested in learning the game of golf in the U.S. can get free 10-minute golf lessons from the experts in golf instruction, The PGA of America professionals. PGA Free Lesson Month is part of a national campaign that The PGA of America is leading called “Play Golf America!”

The PGA Free Lesson Month campaign is designed to help amateur golfers improve their skills and attract new players to the game. Last year, more than 4,000 PGA Professionals gave a record 78,483 free lessons, the most given in any one year since the campaign’s inception in 1997.

There are several PGA Professionals in their Fayette County area who will be offering free lessons in May: Wendell Coffee at Wendell Coffee Golf Centerin Tyrone, 770-969-4469; Charles Ward, Braelinn Golf Club, Peachtree City, 770-631-3100; Gregory Raisor, The Palmer Course at Starr's Mill, 770-461-6545. There are sweepstakes prizes, too: Every golfer who takes a free lesson and sends in a Free Lesson Card, will be entered with his or her PGA Professional for a chance to win Nike Golf’s Grand Prize sweepstakes package that includes a custom-fit set of Nike Golf Clubs, Nike Golf footwear, apparel, bag, balls and more. The sweepstakes winners will include an amateur golfer and the PGA Professional who conducted the lesson, along with the PGA Professional who conducts the most free lessons.

A second place prize will be provided by The PGA of America of a trip for three nights/four days to the PGA Village in Port St. Lucie, Fla. The package includes rounds of golf at the award winning PGA Golf Club, a day of instruction at PGA of America Golf Schools and unlimited use of the state-of-the-art PGA Learning Center.
