OK to burn again after rain By JOHN MUNFORD The temporary outdoor burning ban enacted for unincorporated Fayette County, Brooks, Woolsey and Tyrone was lifted Thursday afternoon. The area received enough rain Thursday morning to alleviate concerns of fire officials that conditions were so dry it put controlled burns in danger of spreading quickly should they get out of control. We got some good rain and we hope to get some more later in the week, said Deputy Chief Allen McCullough of the Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services. The ban was enacted Monday due to the dry weather and the windy weather that had played a role in causing several controlled outdoor fires to spread. The county also had responded to several roadside fires that were likely started by passing motorists throwing cigarettes out of their vehicles, officials said. Residents must still call the countys outdoor burning hotline at 770-461-1321, ext. 5468 to get a permit.
