The McIntosh Chiefs won a pair of region games last week, 13-3 over Carver and 3-2 over Starr’s Mill. The Chiefs also defeated Dacula 14-4 Friday behind a strong pitching performance from Brendan Hall, who struck out nine and gave up four hits in five innings.

The Whitewater Wildcats won two of three games last week, starting with a 10-1 victory over the JV from Chapel Hill. John Ashley went the distance for the win, with John Sholar hitting a three-run homer to help power the offense.

The Wildcats also avenged a loss from earlier in the season, winning 9-5 Thursday over Newnan’s JV. Kevin Lewallen was the winning pitcher and Jonan Jaurique picked up the save. Sholar hit a grand slam and Ryan Johnson added a three-run shot.

East Coweta’s JV halted the Wildcats’ winning ways Saturday with a 7-3 score. The Wildcats’ ninth-grade team won 8-0 over East Coweta’s ninth-graders.

The Fayette County Tigers are now 7-5 overall and 1-2 in the region, having lost three in a row last week to North Gwinnett (10-3), East Coweta (5-1) and Starr’s Mill (2-1).

The Landmark War Eagles won their region opener 12-0 over Our Lady of Mercy behind the pitching of Kyle Gray, who threw a one-hitter with four strikeouts no walks to improve his record to 3-1. The offense was a team effort, as all nine batters had at least one hit in the contest. Tim Perkins was 1-3 with a double and four RBI, while Miles King, Dylan Hanes and Rome Smith each went 2-for-4 with Smith hitting two doubles.

Landmark also defeated Shades Mountain Christian from Birmingham by a score of 7-2 with pitchers Smith, Hanes and Perkins combining to strike out 13 batters. Hanes got the win. Leading hitters were King (2-for-4, 1 RBI) and Blaine Gable (2-for-4).

In addition to the Landmark game, Our Lady of Mercy lost a pair of games to Aquinas, 12-2 and 11-6. Senior catcher Ralph Woolfolk was 7-for-9 in the three games and raised his batting average to .459.?
