Keep on truckin’ for tots

In April the birds are out, the sun is out, people are out and so are trucks. Trucks, trucks and more trucks.

The Peachtree City Recreation Department is sponsoring the fourth annual Touch a Truck event April 17 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Frederick J. Brown Amphitheater parking lot.

This event has become one of the most popular events in the springtime and lots of kids of all ages love to come and crawl over, under, in and out of the large rigs available on that day.

Among the vehicles participating this year will be concrete pumping trucks, a wrecker, Army National Guard vehicles, police and fire vehicles, tractor-trailers, dump trucks, graders and anything else in the way of “movers and shakers.” There will also be an exhibit, Georgia Operation Lifesaver, which emphasizes railroad safety.

“This event just keeps growing each year,” said Susan Taylor, event coordinator. “There will be hot dogs, chips, soft drinks and other refreshments to make the event even more festive. Come on out and bring the whole family to spend a leisurely day of seeing up close some of the vehicles we see everyday on our highways.”

There is no admission for Touch a Truck.
