Signup coming for summer camps Summer is already in the air and its never too early to begin planning summer activities for your child. Dont miss out on early registration for all Peachtree City Recreation Department summer camps and swim lessons. Beginning Saturday, March 27, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., you can register for any of the programs listed below. The office will also be open Monday, March 29, from 5-8 p.m. specifically for this special enrollment period. Sign up at the Peachtree City Recreation Administration Building at 191 McIntosh Trail in Peachtree City or the Kedron Fieldhouse and Aquatic Center at 202 Kedron Drive in Peachtree City. Drawings for hourly prizes will be awarded, so come and get a jump-start on summer. Camp McIntosh, a traditional yet adventurous day camp, returns with new themes and awesome trips planned. This camp is for ages 6-10. Campers must turn 6 on or before the first day of each session and must not turn 11 on or before the first day of each session. This camp offers four two-week sessions of outdoor and indoor games, arts and crafts, swimming, guest entertainers and the best field trips around. Each session has a different theme. The camp runs from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on special field trip days once a week. Camp McIntosh fees include fieldtrips, supplies, snacks, drinks and a camp T-shirt for each two-week session. Campers must provide their own lunch. Session I theme is Journey into the Congo Basin. Trips are scheduled to Wild Animal Safari, Imax Chimpanzee Adventure and Six Flags. Session II theme is Water mania. Trips are scheduled to Sun Valley Beach, Whitewater, Lake Lanier and The Beach. Session III theme is Salute to Americas Theme Parks. Trips are scheduled to American Adventures, Stone Mountain and Six Flags. Session IV theme is Theres No Business Like Show Business. Trips are scheduled to the CNN Tour, Fox Theater and Six Flags. Each session will accept only 24 campers ages 6-7 and 24 campers ages 8-10 so take advantage of this opportunity to sign up early and reserve your spot. Also for two days only you can receive an early bird discount by signing up for multiple sessions of Camp McIntosh. If you sign up the same child for two sessions you get a $25 discount. Fee are as follows: Session I (June 7-18), $175; Session II (June 21-July 2), $175; Session III (July 6-16), $150; Session IV (July 19-30), $175. The following new specialty camps are available: Clay Items for your Garden, where campers will make fairy houses and gazing balls, and maybe even toad huts and custom garden markers. Choose functional or fantasty. Tuesdays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., June 15-Aug. 3, ages 12-18. Fee is $125 plus $20 for supplies. Creative Adventuring, ages 5-12, June 21-25, 12:30-3:30 p.m., $125. Create a Calendar, ages 5-12, June 7-11 or July 26-30, 12:30-3:30 p.m., $125. Baton Camp at Kedron Fieldhouse will allow campers to learn about baton or brush up on their baton skills. July 5-6, ages 6-18, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., $150. Drama Camp introduces children ages 7-18 to theater games and prepares them for their very own production. Campers should bring a snack and beverage each day. July 12-16, ages 10-18, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m., $88. July 19-23, ages 7-9, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m., $75. July 26-30, ages 9-14, 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m., $80. Kids Kwilting gives boys and girls ages 9-19 the opportunity to make a fully completed quilt of their very own. All materials will be supplied except for the backing. Fee is $95. Offered June 8-10, June 14-18, June 21-25, July 13-17 or July 20-24. Art Camp 2004 features Folk Art painting with acrylics, watercolor, pencils, bead ornaments, seasonal decorations, assorted paper crafts and other fun projects. Each participant should bring a lunch, drink and an old T-shirt to class each day. Offered Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. for grades 2-7 during either of three weeks: June 14-18, July 12-16 or July 26-30. Fee is $125. The Gotta Volley girls volleyball camp at Kedron Fieldhouse will provide instruction on the fundamentals of passing, setting, spiking, serving, and blocking. There will be an optional swim time each day of camp. The fees for this camp will include a new volleyball and a T-shirt. Offered June 28-July 2 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. for grades 6-9. Fee is $140. The Little Hoopsters basketball camp at Kedron Fieldhouse, an instructional camp offered by The Next Level Training, focuses on reinforcing skills that may have been learned in previous classes or programs. TNLT uses summer camp to focus on the team aspects of a particular sport in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Players will participate in a fun and challenging week of drills and games helping to take them to the next level of their play. Participants will be evaluated at the end of the session in order to assess player improvement. All participants should bring a snack each day to camp. Participants will receive a T- shirt and a certificate at the end of camp. Offered July 12-16 from 9-11 a.m. for ages 4-5. Fee is $80. The Kedron Kids Basketball Camp is an exciting and fun way to learn about basketball. Coach David Pina will lead campers through the fundamentals of dribbling, shooting, and passing. There will be games and contests with prizes for each age group. Each camper will receive a trophy and a T-Shirt. Also a designated time will be set aside for swimming in the Kedron small pool. Please bring your own lunch. Offered Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m.-noon, the weeks of June 7-10 and Aug. 2-5 for ages 6-10. Fee is $100. The Kedron Junior High Hoop Camp is a coed camp for junior high students who want to develop their game. Coach Pina will offer instruction on passing, shooting, defense, individual moves and more. Time will be allowed for optional swim time each day. Participants will play games daily and have contests to compete for prizes. Each camper will receive a trophy and a T-shirt.
