Sandy Creek staging Sondheim classic By LINDSAY BIANCHI Sometimes old stories tell the best tales. And when set to a musical score by Stephen Sondheim, that adds up to a magical evening of entertainment. Sandy Creek High School is preparing to usher in spring this weekend with their production of Into the Woods, the popular 1994 Broadway show that married the Brothers Grimm to the Great White Way. Cathy Anderson, director of the show, has pulled together an ensemble cast who will weave stories familiar to all. Cinderella, Rapunzel and their cohorts step from the storybook pages of childhood to shed new light on the fates of princes and princesses. The two act play centers around the story of the Baker and his Wife who interconnect with the other imaginative characters in their attempt to live happily ever after. Millie Turek is the musical director. To add more fun and versatility, the players have been given multiple parts to be shuffled around from one evening to the next. By the end of this run, the thespians of Sandy Creek may need some reminders at to who they are. Some of the cast members include Chardonnay Bunkley as Rapunzel, Jessica Merrill as The Witch, Savannah Beebe as Sleeping Beauty, Mitch Boettcher as The Prince, Sara Norris as the Bakers Wife, Tyrone Byrd as The Mysterious Man, Lauren Miller as Jacks Mother, Diane Marks as The Evil Stepmother, Tyran Weldon as The Wolf and Jacquie Stebar as Florinda the Wicked Step Sister.
