SCAT sends six swimmers to regional The Southern Crescent Aquatic Team in Peachtree City qualified six swimmers for the Southern Zone Eastern Senior Sectional Championships in Nashville. Swimmers meeting the time standards and competing in the regional level meet were Lauren Cartwright, Noah Copeland, Mackenzie Garrot, Billy Jamerson, Nicole Roddenbery, and Brittany Stevens. SCAT swam to 11th place out of over 80 teams from Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, and North Carolina. All SCAT swimmers made finals or scored points for the team. Jamerson placed first in the 100 and 200 breaststroke with National Championship qualifying times and made finals in a total of 5 events. Cartwright swam qualifying times for the Junior National Championships in 3 new events. Roddenbery made a U.S. Open Championship cut time in the 100 butterfly. New team records were established by Jamerson (50 freestyle, 100 and 200 breaststroke, 200 individual medley), Cartwright (200 freestyle, 100 & 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly), Roddenbery (100 butterfly), Garrot (100 breaststroke), and Stevens (100 backstroke). The relay team of Stevens, Garrot, Roddenbery, and Cartwright set a new team record in the 400 medley relay and became the first relay team in SCAT history to qualify for the Junior National Championships.
