Karafanda chosen as new youth director at Turin Turin United Methodist Church in Coweta County recently hired Shannon E. Karafanda as the new director of children and youth ministries. Karafanda, a long-time resident of Peachtree City, comes to Turin with her husband John and their two children, John, age 3, and Shane, age 2. Karafanda previously was director of youth ministries at Brooks United Methodist Church. Most recently, she was a volunteer youth counselor and Sunday school teacher at Providence United Methodist while she pursued her seminary degree at Emory Universitys Candler School of Theology. The congregation of Turin UMC invites the community to visit their family night activities every Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and their children and youth activities on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. Turin UMC is at 20 Longstreet Ave., just across the railroad tracks on Ga. Hwy. 16 in Turin. Sunday activities begin with Sunday school at 9:40 a.m. and a blended worship service at 10:50 a.m.
