A defendant awaiting trial for selling drugs to undercover agents last year was busted Tuesday for smoking marijuana in the parking lot of the Fayette County Justice Center, police said.

Bruce Edgar Turner, 39, of Sharpsburg was arrested by agents of the Fayette County Drug Task Force after Turner approached a confidential informant and invited her to smoke a joint with him, police said.

After he was arrested red-handed, Turner’s truck was searched and a plastic bag was found with marijuana inside, drug agents said. Turner, who had been on bond for three felony counts of selling narcotics, was taken to the Fayette County Jail and booked for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute because he gave a marijuana cigarette to the informant, police said.

Turner was arrested by the task force, an arm of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, in February 2003 after he sold 600 “soma” pills and 25 Lortab pills to an undercover agent at the parking lot of the GTO’s Drive-In restaurant, police said. The day before, he had sold 100 soma pills to an undercover agent at a gas station in Tyrone, according to court documents.
