Lacrosse team continues unbeaten streak The unbeaten Peachtree City high school lacrosse team (6-0) defeated highly-ranked Woodstock 10-7, Mountain Brook (Ala.) 11-0, and Riverside Military Academy 15-5, establishing itself as the top-ranked club lacrosse high school program in the state. The much anticipated matchup of last years tournament championship against Woodstock did not disappoint the large Peachtree City crowd. PTC jumped to an early lead on goals by David Dye and Madison Seward in the first minutes of the game. Woodstock quickly responded and the intensity continued to grow for the next four quarters. Woodstock took control of the third quarter, outscoring PTC and dominating almost every aspect of the game. Goalie Dan Griffin played perhaps the finest game of his career, frustrating the strong Woodstock offense in the second half with spectacular saves, and his teammates responded accordingly. The fourth quarter was a defensive showcase featuring John Gatell and Mitchell Lentini. We just didnt get it together on our end until the fourth quarter, commented senior defensive captain John Gatell. We were tired and frustrated, but we were not going to let them score. We had some incredible stick checks, and every time we took it away we gained confidence. Mitchell, Danny and the entire team just seemed to play harder and we pulled away again in the fourth quarter. PTC continued the streak last Saturday with a strong showing against the visitors from Birmingham. The offense and defense dominated the game in workmanlike fashion. Brian Rossetti (4) led the team in scoring followed by Madison Seward, David Dye, Sean Griffin, and Gib Herron. In the evening game, PTC dominated a strong RMA squad in a very physical match-up. The PTC offense scored four goals in the first quarter and exploded for seven additional goals in the second, establishing a 10-1 lead, and never looked back. Scorers included Sean Griffin (4), David Dye (3), Madison Seward (3), Kyle Herbers (2), RD Reid (1). This weekend the team plays two games at Riley Field (behind Peachtree City Elementary), against Tucker Saturday afternoon and against Gwinnett Sunday at 2 p.m. Admission and parking are free.
