United Way seeking nominations
for outstanding volunteers

Volunteers are works of heart, and in Fayette County, volunteers give with all their hearts to organizations such as Fayette Senior Services, Epilepsy Foundation, Scouting, and many other organizations.

To recognize volunteers, United Way in Fayette County is asking for nominations from local agencies for the volunteer recognition program. Awards for the adult volunteer of the year and the teen volunteer of the year will be given at the annual recognition luncheon in April.

Local committee chair Jason Thompson said, "It is particularly important to recognize the generosity of these volunteers. They are the most giving of people. And it is important to recognize young people who see needs in their community and lead with their hearts to meet those needs."

Nomination forms have been mailed to local agencies; more are available at the county libraries and the local United Way office at 770-254-8497.

Criteria for nomination are:

·Nominees must be Fayette County residents with service provided in Fayette County.

· The nominee's service must be truly voluntary and not to meet court mandated, school or graduation requirements. Individual students as well as Beta Club, Key Club and other extracurricular club volunteers are eligible.

·Teen nominees must be high school students, 9th - 12th grades. Nominations must be returned to the local office no later than March 31,2004.

Forms may be sent to United Way in Coweta & Fayette counties, ATTN: Outstanding Volunteer Program, P.O. Box 807, Newnan, GA 30263.
