Another Zaxby’s, day care and subdivision on tap for Southside

Plans continue to pour in for projects at the Summit Point mixed-use development on the Southside of Fayetteville, including its first residential subdivision.

This week, the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission discussed plans for a day care facility, a 50-home subdivision and a second Zaxby’s restaurant. Zaxby’s officials still plan to build another restaurant on Ga. Highway 85 next to the J&R Clothing plaza.

The proposed day care building is on a 1.64-acre tract on Hwy. 85 south as an outparcel of Summit Point. The building is over 10,000 sq. ft.

The 50-home subdivision will be located behind the Zaxby’s near the intersection of hwys. 85 and 92. It will feature single family detached homes as the first residential part of the overall Southside Master Plan.

The subdivision will be located on part of a 53-acre parcel set aside for residential uses, but the developer has not indicated how much of that site will be used for the first 50 homes.

The proposed Zaxby’s would also be on an outparcel, but off Ga. Highway 92. The restaurant has 90 seats and is over 3,500 sq. ft.

None of these items were voted on at Tuesday’s commission meeting. The commission could potentially vote on these projects at its next meeting Tuesday, March 23.
