Lewis to speak at Fayette NAACP Saturday meeting

Motivational-inspirational speaker Nancy J. Lewis, president of Progressive Techniques, Inc. based in Fayetteville, will present a brief motivational talk at the regular monthly meeting of the Fayette NAACP Branch Saturday. The theme of her organization is “Developing A Better You!”

The Fayette NAACP Branch continues to provide a necessary service to the Fayette County community. Regular Fayette NAACP Branch meetings are held at the Flat Rock A. M. E. Church every second Saturday of the month at 4 p.m. Flat Rock A.M.E. Church is located just off Georgia Highway 54 between Peachtree City and Fayetteville. All members and persons seeking membership are encouraged to attend.

Additionally, the Fayette NAACP and the Fayetteville Barnes & Nobles bookstore are co-sponsors of a March 20 discussion and book signing at 10 a.m. with legendary civil rights figure and U.S. Congressman John Lewis. He is the author of the book, “Walking With The Wind.” Congressman Lewis is well known as a courageous civil rights activist and a leader of the 60s-era voting rights protest march from Selma to Montgomery.

Many marchers including John Lewis were viciously attacked by law enforcement officials while trying to march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge near Selma. A voter registration drive is also planned at the Fayetteville bookstore during this book signing.
