Editorial was inexcusableYour front-page editorial on gay marriage was inexcusable. Labeling those elected officials who are neither threatened nor frightened by single-gender marriages as “so-called Democrats” is unnecessary and immature. We elected those public servants to represent us and make informed decisions on the merits of all proposed laws and constitutional amendments. Regardless of your personal opinion, it seems appropriate for a newspaper named The Citizen to understand that and respect our elected officials’ duty to vote their conscience. Unless, of course, you don’t care for “so-called” journalistic integrity. While editors are entitled to their opinions, most reputable papers reserve that privilege for the editorial pages. The Citizen is supposed to be a “news”paper, not a sophomoric soapbox. Emily Donahue Peachtree City, Ga.
