A south Fayette man is in custody after drug agents found a disassembled methamphetamine lab in a barn behind his south Fayette residence late Friday evening, police said.

When Robert Bylock, 39, was arrested in Clayton County Monday, agents discovered another meth lab in his SUV, police said.

Bylock is charged with one count of manufacturing methamphetamine and one count of possession of anhydrous ammonia, one of the main compounds used to create the illegal drug.

Agents from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department Drug Task Force and the Clandestine Lab Team from the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency raided Bylock’s home at 1383 Redwine Road late Friday night, but he wasn’t home, police said. Agents from the sheriff’s department’s Special Enforcement Team were also on hand as the search warrant was executed because of the increased danger involved, agents said.

The lab had apparently been disassembled, but there was significant evidence Bylock had “cooked” methamphetamine at the residence, agents said. Although chemicals common in methamphetamine manufacturing were found at the residence, no contraband or money was found, agents said.

Bylock was found Monday at the Tara Inn and Suites in Clayton County where he was arrested by Fayette DTF agents and their counterparts in Clayton County, agents said. When they went to search his Toyota 4-Runner SUV in the parking lot, they found a meth lab that had been used to manufacture methamphetamine on the go, agents said.

It is anticipated that Clayton County will also file charges on Bylock, Fayette drug agents said.

Although the lab at the Fayette residence was disassembled, agents believe Bylock was still living at the home there, agents said.

When methamphetamine is cooked, it produces a strong chemical odor, agents said.
