ObituariesNaida Ann Hewett, 74, Sharpsburg, formerly of Colquitt, died Feb. 12, 2004. She was born Nov. 8, 1929 in Baker County, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sam Houston. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alonza Hewett Sr.,and a sister, Bobby Sue Faircloth. After marrying,she moved to Miami where she worked as an Intake Supervisor for Dade County for 30 years and then an additional 10 years in the same capacity for the Federal government. She moved to Sharpsburg in 1995. Her passion for gospel music, playing the organ,gardening, and crocheting will be missed. Graveside services were at the Houston Cemetery, Colquitt, Ga., with the Rev. Thomas Shannon officiating. Survivors include a son, Alonza Hewett Jr., Miami, Fla.; a daughter,Luanne and Chris Baker,Sharpsburg; a brother, Edward and Winifred Houston, Lumber City, Ga.; sisters, Dorothy Casey, Lithia Springs, Ga., and Elizabeth Lane,Bainbridge, Ga.; and three grandchildren. Margaret Helen Jones, 88, Newnan, died Feb. 26, 2004. She was born in 1915 in Palmetto, the youngest child of William and Mattie Collins. She attended elementary and grammar school in a one-room schoolhouse and later graduated from Campbell High School, Fairburn. She married Rollin S. Fillingim in 1933 and they were married 28 years at the time of his death in 1961. She married Frank Jones to whom she was married 27 years at the time of his death in 1991. She was an excellent pianist and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Memorial services were at the Jones Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Thomas Shannon officiating. Survivors include daughters, Myrna Brown, Marlene Milne,Marilyn Lenski, and Melinda Coleman; stepsons, Philip Jones, Frank Jones, and Michael Jones; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Jones Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge. Margaret Howell Passoit Moody, 95, Newnan, died Feb. 29, 2004. She was born Jan. 7, 1909, in Oxford, Miss. Her family moved to Newnan that same year when her father became the Water and Light Commission Superintendent, a post he held for decades. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Rhodes Moody, a brother, Howell, and a sister, Louise. She was graduated from Tift College as student body president in 1930. For two years she taught history at the old Starr High School in Senoia. She moved to new York City and was a member of Bloomingdale's "Flying Squad" and an art student at Columbia University before returning home to Newnan. In her younger years she played the piano and guitar, as well as bridge and canasta. She was a past member of the Reading Circle Junior Service League. In the mid 1950s and 1960s, she was the secretary of Central Baptist Church. Her love of learning continued all her life, she read French and German, gardened devotedly, and needleworking. Graveside services were at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan. Survivors include a sister, Catherine Passoit Glass; a son, John Leigh and Dorothy Moody; daughters, Margaret and David Iwamoto, and Henrietta and Hilton Blackmon; grandchildren, Jennifer Blackmon McGrady, Andrew Rhodes Iwamoto, John Rhodes Moody, and Benjamin Howell Moody; and great grandchildren, Aaron Iwamoto, Braden Iwamoto, and Mary Margaret McGrady. Memorial donations may be made to the Central Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1221, Newnan, GA 30264. McKoon Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge.
