Pope Dickson and Son opens Grief Store in Jonesboro

Abb Dickson, owner of Pope Dickson and Son Funeral Home, recently announced the upcoming opening of the newest addition to its services, The Grief Store, a specialty store located in the funeral home in Jonesboro. The store will feature special books, audio tapes, video tapes, sympathy cards and other items specifically selected to promote healing, teach about grief, and provide support for the bereaved. Grand opening, a luncheon and an open house are planned for April 5.

“We are the first in the state of Georgia to open this type of specialty store,” Dickson said, “and it’s located on the ground floor of our Jonesboro Funeral Home at 168 North McDonough Street. It’s completely accessible.”

The Grief Store also is available online at www.popedickson.com.

“ We have items that will help you create a special memorial for your loved one or to send to someone else who is grieving. The store gives you the ability to find just the right resource, quickly and easily, online or in person,” Dickson added.

At noon on opening day, a special Grief Seminar Luncheon will be held, featuring as guest speaker, Darcie D. Sims, Ph.D., CGC, CHT, an internationally recognized speaker and author.

Sims is president and co-founder of Grief, Inc., a grief counseling business, and the director of The American Grief Academy in Louisville, Ky. She is a Diplomate in the American Psychotherapy Association, a Certified Diplomate in Clinical Hypnotherapy, and is listed in Who’s Who in America, The World Who’s Who of Women, and The International Who’s Who of Professional and Business Women.

“We are proud to bring in Ms. Sims, and invite area ministers, hospice workers and nursing professionals to come and hear her speak,” Dickson said.

Sims also will be available to meet and greet the public at the open house for The Grief Store from 3-5 p.m.

Reservations for the luncheon may be made by calling 770-478-7211.
