Burrell installed as new pastor at North Fayette

The congregation of North Fayette United Methodist Church recently installed and welcomed the Rev. Doug Burrell as its new pastor. The installation ceremony was performed Jan. 25 by the Rev. DeDe Leetch, LaGrange District Superintendent.

Burrell, a native of Hall County, is a graduate of Cedar Shoals High School in Athens, and the University of Georgia where he received an A.B. degree in religion. He later was graduated from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and completed Methodist studies in 1997 at Candler School of Theology in Atlanta. He has served congregations across north Georgia, most recently in Rome and Carrollton, and at Inman United Methodist Church in south Fayette County.

Burrell has been active on clergy and advisory boards for hospitals, drug treatment centers, and ministerial and civic organizations. His interest in leadership development and team building has led him to conduct workshops in these areas and in stress management as well.

He also conducts parent training and marriage retreats.

Burrell is married to Diane Bond Burrell, a native of Albany, who is a life science teacher at Starr’s mill High School. The Burrells have two children, Mary Ann and David, both students at Starr’s Mill.
