Lutheran, Episcopal churches join hands for Ash Wednesday

St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church and Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church will have a combined Ash Wednesday Service on Feb. 25. The 7 p.m. service will be held at St. Andrew’s, 316 N. Peachtree Parkway, Peachtree City.

The combined service celebrates the beginning of Lent.

For almost 20 years both Peachtree City churches have begun Lent together, the season that marks the 40 days, minus Sundays, prior to Easter when Christians traditionally practice special acts of devotion and abstinence.

Practiced since the centuries of the early church, Ash Wednesday is celebrated with Holy Communion and the imposition of ashes upon the foreheads of the faithful.
