What was that strange noise in PTC?

I live on the north side of Peachtree City. At 4 a.m. [Sunday] morning, what sounded like a tornado siren went off for about 10 minutes.

I called the fire department this morning to inquire and was told that they heard it too but did not know what it was. I would love to hear an explanation.

[The editor replies: Mr. Bianchi, I wish I knew also, because I and my wife heard a similarly strange noise in Peachtree City the week before. It seemed to come from the direction of the railroad tracks around midnight and lasted for many minutes before fading to the north. Anybody else hearing things?]
