Offshoot looking for apprentices Offshoot Productions, the Fayette County-based professional theatre company now in its eleventh season, is accepting applications from adults and teens for apprenticeships associated with the spring "Shakespeare in the Park" project, which includes the performance of Comedy of Errors at the Villages Amphitheater in Fayetteville June 11-27. In addition to attending acting workshops taught by Offshoots professional cast and staff, apprentices receive technical theatre training and hands-on stagecraft experience. Apprentices will play roles in Comedy of Errors alongside the professional cast and/or provide technical support in such areas as lighting, costumes and sound. Auditions and interviews, which are by appointment only, will be held March 16, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Fayette Family YMCA, 215 Huiet Road, Fayetteville; March 20, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Peachtree City Library, 201 Willowbend Road, Peachtree City; and March 21, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Fayette Family YMCA. While most apprentices are 16 and older, Offshoot will consider outstanding younger applicants. No previous theatre experience is required; rather, apprenticeships are based on potential and commitment. The apprentice fee is $75 for first-time apprentices and $45 for returning apprentices. Scholarships based on financial need are available. Comedy of Errors is being produced in conjunction with Main Street Fayetteville.
