Let’s have a little civility

I’m truly disappointed with several of my fellow Fayette citizens. Aren’t we a nation of discussion and representative democracy? Aren’t we allowed to share different and unusual ideas in a respectful way and expect the same in return?

Why have the views shared by those opposed to the new education standards become so hateful and vile?

Kathy [Cox] has shared her ideas for public comment. Civil public comment.

Instead of [her opponents] attacking the message, she’s been treated worse than any of us would expect. Shoot the message, not the messenger.

It’s obvious that those attacking her don’t know her. She is first and foremost a dedicated teacher who was brave enough to run for a thankless public office. I’m glad she’s there. I won’t always agree with her, but that’s America.

Kathy, I support you and want you to know that you are appreciated and respected. Thanks for doing this job and thanks for being there for us.
