A humble plan for ‘visionary’

Kathy Cox, my muse, my inspiration! Let me begin by stating that I write this in jovial celebration of Fayette’s very own brilliant and insightful visionary, who has, in one swift motion, turned us, the people of Georgia, from the fervent tides of ignorance and redirected us towards an ocean of enlightenment.

It is with both extreme sincerity and zealous enthusiasm that I offer this proposal, a humble attempt to celebrate this monumental occasion in Georgia history.

Every silver screen in this great state of the South should, in commemoration of such a grand event, screen the 1960 film “Inherit the Wind” 24 hours a day, seven days a week, until the first anniversary of Kathy’s superb victory over the vile and false evolution.

For the second year, teach only the play of the same title in every public school across the state. Students should have plenty of time for discussion since well over 2,004 years of world history have now been reduced to 144.

And rightly so! Why should we as intelligent Georgians need to learn about the tumultuous and rickety times of America preceding the Civil War? Who was Alexander the Great anyhow? Begin history the antebellum way, when American settled down and became stable.

Cynics (I not being one of them) might call this procedure “rash editing” and claim that it breeds future ignorance.

Nonsense! What a brash comment to make about the academic world of Georgia! Do our SAT scores not speak for themselves? Do we not have superb public schools already? Surely these alterations to the state curriculum will produce nothing short of positive results.

Therefore, thank you, Kathy; this was truly “intelligent design.”
