North Fayettes The Grove celebrates 2nd anniversary More than 100 people gathered in the Activities Center at North Fayette United Methodist Church last month, as The Grove, a new, contemporary service offered by the church, celebrated its second birthday, complete with birthday cake. The service was begun in order to offer a different type of worship experience, a church spokesperson said. It attracts not only our own members, especially youth, but also provides an opportunity to reach out into the community and attract those not presently attending another church, or those who might not want to be a part of traditional worship. Nada Clements, the churchs present director of worship, was brought on board in 2001 to help develop the new concept. A praise team was formed with a few voices from the Chancel Choir, youth singers and instrumentalists, and the unique worship concept was on its way. Today, The Grove team consists of adult and youth singers, a band, computer graphics operators, and audio and video technicians working with a professional sound and lighting system. February has been designated as Pray for The Grove month, and Mary Ann Wakefield, set designer, painted a large tree with removable leaves, each marked with a date in February for the recipient to pray for the growth of The Grove. Saturday, Feb. 7, has been set aside for a special Grove Praise and Prayer Time from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., with devotionals, prayer and singing in the Activities Center. The community is invited to join in this special event, as well as to join in the regular Grove services each Sunday at 9:45 a.m., also held in the churchs Activities Center.
