Do you like pancakes and sausage? If so, the annual Kiwanis Club of Peachtree City’s Pancake Saturday is the place to be. The breakfast is an all-you-can-eat fundraiser for the Kiwanis Club, which provides funding for DARE programs, the Fayette Field of Hope, the All Children’s Playground, Fayette Youth Protection Homes, scholarships to local seniors and much more.

Last year’s breakfast served close to 10,000 pancakes to over 2,600 people and raised $13,000 to support charitable causes and service projects. The group’s goal for this year is to serve 3,000 people. Starting at 7 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, citizens can get all-you-can-eat pancakes, two at a time, sausage, orange juice, milk, coffee and tea. Local businesses donate the materials that keep the pancake breakfast going each year and in addition to the food, there is also a variety of family entertainment planned.

J93.3FM will be doing a live broadcast from the pancake breakfast from 9-11 am. and children will be able to get their faces painted, get free balloons and meet with clowns from the Peachtree City Fire Department, while barbershop quartets will travel around the dining area, serenading the adults. There will also be a “hands free” pancake eating contest for the children, with a savings bond going to the winner.

Over 100 volunteers from the local Kiwanis and Key Clubs, which are the high school chapters of the Kiwanis Club, staff the breakfast. Preparation begins at 5 a.m. and the pancakes are cooked on five grills, including one grill that can cook 70 pancakes at a time. The breakfast lasts until 1 p.m. and is a great chance for the community to come together and have a great time and a good breakfast.

Tickets for the breakfast are $4 and are available from any Peachtree City Kiwanis member or at Kwik Kopy on Huddleston Road, as well as at the door. The event is held at McIntosh High School and plenty of free parking is available. Help will also be provided for those requiring assistance from the parking lot to the cafeteria. Take out orders are also available. Visit www.peachtreecitykiwanis.org for more information.
