Barney returns to Atlanta with new show By MICHAEL BOYLAN He loves you, and your children, if they are young enough, love him. Him being Barney, the purple dinosaur with his own educational and entertaining television program for preschoolers. This week, Barney brings his friends to Atlanta for his third tour with Barneys Colorful World. The show, which runs Thursday-Sunday at the Atlanta Civic Center will feature much of the magic of the television show and many of the cast of characters that children have grown to love. Barneys Colorful World starts in the playground from the show. Barney, Baby Bop, BJ and the kids decide to use their imaginations and travel around the world. First they go to a jungle where they meet all sorts of animals, including a monkey who dances. The gang then travels to the Arctic where they meet tap dancing penguins and a polar bear who hip hops, followed by a stop at the beach and then a jaunt under the sea where they meet a starfish who sings rock and roll. All in all there are 28 songs in the show including such favorites as If Youre Happy and You Know It, Bingo and If All The Raindrops. The tour of Barneys Colorful World started last year in New York City and will tour throughout the rest of 2004. It will visit 90 U.S. and Canadian cities throughout the tour. The show features a cast and crew of 40 people and is transported from city to city by five trucks. The previous tours have been extremely popular with children all over the world. The television show airs in over 100 countries on six continents.
