Jamerson medals in Australia A local athlete has returned from international competition halfway around the world with some pretty impressive hardware. Billy Jamerson, a senior at Sandy Creek High School and a member of the Southern Crescent Aquatic Team in Peachtree City, recently competed with USAs National Junior Team in the 2004 Queensland Championships in Brisbane, Australia. He won a bronze medal in the 50-meter breaststroke with a personal best time of 29.58 and also swam the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:06.23 for a tenth-place finish. Swimming the breaststroke leg of the 400-meter medley relay, Jamerson helped his team finish in fourth place. His other events included the 50-meter butterfly and the 200-meter breaststroke. Jamerson is the reigning Georgia state champion in the 50-yard freestyle as well as the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke. In December, he signed a scholarship to swim for Florida State. In other swimming news, SCAT is hosting the Southwest Division Championship Feb. 6-8. Last year about 500 swimmers competed from more than 10 teams, and meet officials expect even more activity this year. Back to the Top of the PageBack to the Sports Home Page
