Christian music talent search competition opens in Feb. Christian musicians in the Fayette, Coweta and South Fultton areas may be interested in entering the third annual Christian Artist Talent Search (C.A.T.S.) which opens Feb. 14. A television series on INSP-The Inspiration Network and syndicated stations will follow the 64 finalists in competition. The grand prize winner will receive a national recording contract that is valued at more than $200,000, from the Butterfly Group. The Christian music talent search is open for sign-up until April 19. The talent search is for singers, whether solo, duo or group. Styles may be gospel, contemporary, southern gospel, praise and worship, or other Christian genres. To enter, all contestants must send a CD or audio cassette with two Christian songs, two copies of a recent photo and two copies of their biography. All entrants must be 16 years of age or older. The third annual C.A.T.S. will air beginning in January 2005 on INSP-The Inspiration Network and syndicated stations representing in total more than 40 million televised homes. There will be 64 finalists chosen to compete in televised competitions that will be produced in INSPs studios in Charlotte, N.C., in July, 2004. There will be 23 televised programs, begininning in January, 2005. The series host is Clifton Davis, best known for his work on television sitcoms and variety shows. Davis also is an ordained minister as well as a composer of such hit songs as Never Can Say Goodbye by The Jackson Five. Davis is probably best known as Rev. Reuben Gregory, the star of the popular Amen which ran on NBC 1986-1991. He has starred in other sitcoms, made numerous guest appearances in others, and acted on Broadway and in film. Recent movies include Max Keebles Big Move, Kingdom Come and Any Given Sunday. Music industry professionals and celebrity judges will determine the winner from the 64 finalists competing weekly for the grand prize recording contract. Last years 64 finalists were from all across the country, from California to Texas, from Wisconsin to Florida. Contestants may sign up for the 2004/2005 C.A.T.S.competition at www.insp.com.
